Robert R. Welsh, Jr., 99, of Hamilton, NJ, passed away, peacefully, on July 28, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pennsylvania, Robert was drafted into the US Army and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded at the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. He retired as an Engineer with the Naval Air Propulsion Center, W. Trenton, NJ and was happiest with his family around him and enjoyed growing tomatoes in his garden. Son of the late Robert and Catherine Welsh, he is survived by his wife of 71 years, Rita, his children Elaine, Joan and Robert (Valerie Fernandez), his grandchildren Michelle (David), Sara (Curtiss) and Christina and his four great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Raphael’s Church, 3500 S. Broad St., Hamilton, NJ. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 400 Woolsey St., Hamilton, NJ. Relatives and friends may visit on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St. Raphael’s Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Raphael’s Church, 3500 S. Broad St., Hamilton, NJ 08610 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
