Kathryn Ann Cavanaugh entered eternal rest on December 31, 2023. Daughter of the late Frederick J. and Kathryn Moore Hillman, daughter-in-law of the late Thomas J. and Rose Wallace Cavanaugh, sister of the late Frederick J. Hillman III (Joan) and Robert M. Hillman (Mary), sister-in-law of the late Eileen R. Lanigan and brother-in-law of the late William J. Cavanaugh (Josephine), and for 50 years the wife of the late Thomas J. Cavanaugh, Jr.
She is survived by sons Denis P. Cavanaugh (Eileen) of Columbus, Kevin M. Cavanaugh (Carolyn) of Langhorne, PA, daughters Mary T. Cavanaugh of Columbus with whom she resided, Marguerite M. Cavanaugh of Mount Laurel, Claire C. Smith (Michael) of Hopewell Township, brother Bruce J. Hillman (Mary Ann) of Bordentown, granddaughters Kelly Saba (Eric) of Caldwell, Erin Otto (Kevin) of Richboro, PA, and Lauren Henry and Rachel Cavanaugh of Langhorne, PA, grandson Ryan T. Smith of Hopewell Township, great-granddaughters Casey, Olivia, and Madelyn Saba, and Hannah Otto, brother-in-law Joseph P. Lanigan of Ewing, 4 nieces, 14 nephews, many cousins and her faithful Homebound Minister, Sally Goeb.
Kathryn was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Class of 1949, Prefect of the Mercer County Sodality Union, and a Lector at St. Raphael’s Parish for 41 years. Lately, she was a member of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, New Egypt. She was Chairman of the Yardville Heights Girl Scout Association and a troop leader for many years. She was also a First Aid Instructor for the American Red Cross. She was employed by the Diocese of Trenton for many years and was Office Manager of the Chancery Office. She served as Secretary to the Most Rev. John C. Reiss, the Most Rev. George W. Ahr, and the Most Rev. James J. Hogan.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Raphael’s Church, 3500 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 10:30 AM.
Visitation will be from 8-10 AM at Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Avenue, Hamilton, NJ.
Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Avenue, Hamilton, NJ.
