Robert E. Sheldon, 81, of Florence Twp., NJ, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Serenity Hospice, Hamilton, NJ. Robert was born in Johnstown, PA, where he met and married the love of his life, Patricia A. Bosser. He served in the US Navy from 1959 to 1962, during which time he served aboard the USS Forrestal. Robert moved to Beverly, NJ in 1964 and began his employment with General Motors, Trenton, NJ, where he worked for 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Raphael’s Holy Angels Parish, Hamilton and American Legion Post # 31, Hamilton. He loved all animals, especially the many pets he had throughout the years. His favorite pastimes were feeding and watching birds, rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State, and watching NASCAR races with his beloved family. Robert was preceded in death by his parents John H. and Melba W. (Strick) Sheldon, his brothers E. Louis and wife Ruth, John H. and wife Mary, Richard W., and Donald and wife Beverly, his sisters Melba (Kenneth) Vogel, Nancy (Gene) Bischof and Carol (Bill) Lutz, and his sister-in-law and husband Joseph and Margaret (Bosser) Rishell. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Patricia A. (Bosser) Sheldon, his son and daughter-in-law Scott Sheldon and Elena Pedraza, his daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Greg Misiakowski, his grandson and wife Bryan and Elizabeth Sheldon, his step-granddaughter Jerrica (Misiakowski) and husband Christopher Rich, his step-granddaughter Valentina Palacios and his beloved great-granddaughters Addyson Leigh and Mazie Anne Sheldon. He is also survived by his brother David and wife Joan, his sister Sharon (David) McCallay, his sister-in-law and husband Anthony and Mary E. (Bosser) Ziner, his sister-in-law Betty (Chon) Sheldon and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, June6, 2023 at 10 AM from Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Ave., Hamilton, NJ (KingstonandKemp.com). Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at St. Raphael’s Church, 3500 S. Broad St., Hamilton, NJ. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd., Wrightstown, NJ. Relatives and friends may visit on Tuesday from 9 to 10 AM at the funeral home. Due to cemetery restrictions prohibiting flowers, Robert’s family requests that donations be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation (t2t.org) or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (bestfriends.org).
