Q: How would you describe Kirk to someone who had never met them?
A: Kirk Everett was an amazing man and an invaluable and irreplaceable friend. He was always available to help out, answer questions and do anything for the Polish Arts Club of Trenton or an individual member. When he was volunteered by his wife, Linda, to fill the role of our Treasurer, who could have imagined the energy, creativity and skills that he would bring to the club. Almost immediately, he used his computer skills to modernized our Treasurer accounts, records and financial reporting to our membership, and for our annual federal and state reports. On his own initiative he created a website that is a treasure trove of information, not just about the activities and history of the club, but also of Polish history, events, issues and people. He was a brilliant webmaster; continuously updating, improving and expanding the website.
He was also our Club photographer. Many of the pictures relating to club activities are photos taken by him or from other sites that he found during his extensive research. He would often spend hours editing the photos so that they were the highest quality before they were added to the website. He didn’t just post information, he researched the issues, found outside links that had relative information and added the links to other sources. He often added subject matter on his own initiative, because he found it interesting and felt it important for people to know about Polish history, culture and Poland’s long struggle against efforts to erase it from the map of Europe.
He was not only the Treasurer, webmaster, club photographer, but also the designer and producer of the Club’s program book for the annual Polonaise Scholarship Awards and Honoree Luncheon. His efforts greatly improved the quality of the program books but also save funds that could be used for scholarships. Despite his struggles of the past few months with the illness that took him from us and his family, he continued to produce his treasurer’s reports and made sure that the April 23, 2023 luncheon program book was high quality and completed on time. He was a dedicated and tireless contributing member of our Club. He put our club on the internet map and made it known far beyond what its founders envisioned. He will be forever remembered not only for his tireless devotion to the Club but for his wit, his no-nonsense attitude, wry sense of humor and most especially as our friend. May God bless him and his family.
